Ez ImgBurn -- Make Bootable Drives or Memory Cards from Image Files

Sorry, ImgBurn, I steal your name.

If you need to make a bootable USB drive or memory card, you might hear of a popular burner --Etcher, but this stuff is ridiculously big [1]:

Basically, macOS "used to" build-in a simple CD-burning feature, so there is no need to install any burner. However, with the CD era passing away, macOS didn't add the upgraded function for USB drive/memory card burning, so many people install some third party Apps for it.

An old shell command "dd" is a tool to copy the disk image into or out from another disk, so it can do the same job as Etcher. However, if you tried "dd" before, you must know it's not very user-friendly, because you need to check the disk path and command parameters first, and then handle the "busy resource" issue. Ez ImgBurn is a GUI package of "dd" command, which automates all operations for disk burning. I don't add the opposite function (making the disk image file from a disk) into Ez ImgBurn, because you can use the great built-in software -- Disk Utility, to do that task.

How to use
1. Drag the disk image file onto Ez ImgBurn (please note the file has to be unzipped first, e.g. *.img.gz is not supported), and then a pop-up window will show up for the disk selection.

2. To execute "dd" command, the administrator privilege is necessary, please key in the administrator account and its corresponding password.

If you have any security concern, you can drag Ez ImgBurn onto Script Editor icon, and then the source code will show up. You can see there's no internet connection or malicious codes inside.

3. Wait for a few minutes (shorter than 5 minutes for a 500 MB image file on my Mac Mini Late 2012). After finishing, a dialog window will pop up to inform you.

If there is any problem to Ez ImgBurn, please don't hesitate to let me know, thanks!

20190921 Update v1.1: Minor bug fix, and the user can run Ez ImgBurn first and then select the image file, no need to drag-and-drop (if you like drag-and-drop, it still does), as shown below:

Notes
1. Why is it so big? Please read the last paragraph of this article. Mmm.... it's why I hate Electron, which is the price for the cross-platform.
